| I had to research that. The short answer is yes. The Museum is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization and is 1/1 cash deductible. For donations up to $500 per year, you typically do not need a receipt ( yes we will give you one, I'm just giving you the details ), when you go over $500, then you do need that receipt with our ( or whatever charity you give to ) tax ID number. With that, you can deduct up to 1/3 of your income without any carry overs to the following year ( this is typically only done with very wealthy individuals, corporations have several other tax incentive strategies to use when profits are high so for the most part, you won't see as many donations from them, well, at least I haven't ). |
